Take social security as an example. There is not money there earning interest to pay social security for the currently retired people. The taxes you pay today pay for todays costs. When it was implemented the population was increasing at a pretty fair rate in the US. Now the native population is stagnant if not decreasing. So the ratio of retirees is increasing as the number of people paying into social security decreases. See a problem?

Then there's the tax deductions for people with kids. You have parents out there who don't do anything to raises their kids, live on food stamps, subsidies and charity, so every kid they can claim is money in their pocket.

No, really, it's a great system, "trust us".
