There's no possible reason to suspect a backlight issue, gamma levels aren't frobbed at all (unlike, say, UnrealEd 3, which violates my gamma levels with a crowbar on initialise) and nothing else OGL has any issues at all apart from UT, which is not a major issue as it has a D3D renderer and OGL for it is unsupported anyway.

Which leads me to suspect that SDL is a hunk of junk.
