...is if you die or become permanently disabled. You can still rack up a nice credit card debt for college partying and declare bankruptcy, but more employers, landlords, and even insurance companies check your credit nowadays before extending an offer. And you'll still have student loans. Not wise then, to ruin your credit for a nice student pad.
