Finally - Unix server was the issue not Microsoft by airborneric 2005-03-08 09:33:47
For some reason, two of my machines ( that I manage anyway) were only getting 81-342 BITS per second download speed. Could upload quickly, but download no. Has been an issue for quite some time - took someone's boss to get the Unix peeps to take a look at it. (Just for arguement sake - I am not trying to start one - am just relieved that it wasn't "my" fault this time). Anyway - they start blaming everything from Microsoft to my AD domain (I removed the machine from domain and cleared security AND had a laptop that doesn't get connected to the domain connect) and the problem still existed. Long story short - boils down to the internal ACL on the server getting confused on which path to take back to the PC's (GigE or FastE). Solution: Do away with FastE.

not to toot my own horn - but I asked them to do that around Thanksgiving. Problem solved yesterday.
