It depends on the child and the items. Our daughter is 2.5 and she's been very good about not getting into things. Every now and then there will be problems but we think that teaching her to respect the limits we've given her is a very valuable lesson. Really dangerous stuff is inaccessible. Precious is a moving target. We don't own too many delicates. It's a challenge sometimes. Good Luck JimK. They don't walk for long...running quickly replaces it.
