My father in law was jewish by emlaabs 2005-03-08 07:57:07
He passed away two years ago this June which was the first time I had been to a jewish funeral. I am a Christian, yet I truely preferred the Jewish method of burial and mourning. The closed casket and the mizvot of helping them be buried was very cathartic to me as well.

I remember my grandfather's wake with the open casket and my parents just standing by it as mourners passed by and expressed their sympathies. It just seemed wrong, neh torture, to me to make our family stand there next to a deceased loved one. When I write my will, I will definately be requesting that I be buried in the jewish tradition.
