Weird Hardware/XP Question by compubmw2005-03-08 01:08:52
Are fluorescent lights "connected" to PC ? by scissors 2005-03-08 01:45:04
As you write elsewhere "it is a plain beige box" ... so you make me think of the fluorescent "economy" lights connected to your ROOMs main power ?
That would be odd indeed if there is a connection EXCEPT ...

where are your PC speakers ?
Normal "fluorescent lights" have a unit built-in called "ballast" (in dutch: dead weight in english ?)
But ... a faulty ballast would give MORE interference when the lights are turned ON.
But FL doesn't turn totally off, at least not immediayely, so the "ballast" think may hickup too ?

If you concentrate when the lights are stil ON, does it beep or not? Because in the dark your attention will be focused differently, maybe you didn't notice the beeps when they were on and you were busy "doing other stuff" ?
