...to be the ruling authority. Kevin J. Anderson is the one who compiled the storylines that are used in the novels to make sure they don't conflict. Lucas doesn't seem to care about that anymore - he screwed around with stuff he'd previously credited for authenticity by showing the Death Star plans in Episode II.
