so any answer I give would be a guess.

However, there are "clubs" where pot was made available for medicinal use on premises if the person presented a prescription. These were primarily in northern california and were subjected to a few law suits a few years back and may have been the impetus for Proposition 215 (the medical marijuana law that passed but hasn't been able to be enacted due to the federal government stepping in). Those clubs were closed for a while, but I *think* they may be back. Someone in the San Francisco / Berkeley area would be better able to answer this one.

Though I do recall a friend having some rather strong "government weed" in a prescription bottle for her ailments (I can't remember all of her diagnoses, one of them was MS and I think that's what it was for)... that may have come from a pharmacy. However, this was back in the late 90s. I don't know about recent stuff.
