I have been hit once. That said it was my own fault. I was in the 'burbs of Paris, in rush "hour". I'm at a red light but the cross traffic is filling the intersection and way beyond, it's not going to move anytime soon. (Poor placement/timing of lights + people not respecting the intersection.) I decide I'm going to weave my way through this stopped traffic, that was a bad idea. Though the traffic in the two lanes was stopped there was a scooter coming down INBETWEEN the lanes. Since I was just passing the front of a city bus I didn't see him coming, he took out my front wheel.
Well, that was my fault, granted the scooter was not in his right either but I view that accident as my stupidity.
This winter I also crashed on the way to work, on black ice; that was not fun. I went to make a turn (across two lanes), I wiped out just as I was leaning over, but it all went so fast I don't even remember falling, one second I was upright, the other on the ground, in the middle of the road, my bike one lane over.
I got up grabbed my bike and ran off the road before even checking out my injuries, I recognized the periless situation I was in. It was very scary, and I thanked the Lord there was no one on the roads at that time.
Oh the injuries were just a badly scrapped knee and some damaged clothing. |
