But then again, I'm taking prescription cough medicine with codeine it it, so I am not entirely here right now. :)

My biggest problem with cycling to work is the stuff I have to lug back and forth...I am a network technician (at least, that's what my job description says), and most of the tools I use in my day-to-day job are mine - I also use them after work. The bag is not light. I also tend to lug my laptop home nightly. That bag is not light either. My bike has no easy way of transporting luggage securely. I know of some alternate routes to get me there that have less traffic, but it will easily double the distance I have to travel.

I'm going to start exercising a couple of days a week by swimming laps at the new pool on the local college campus (it was a joint effort between Penn State and the local municipalities). Residents can use the pool (for a fee, of course). The have lap times that just so happen to correspond with my normal lunch hour. I figure I'll be able to swim for 20 minutes or so and still have time to grab some lunch.
