Spysweeper does what now? by YakkoWarner2005-02-28 10:20:01
I use it - bought it. by Havoc 2005-02-28 11:26:47
And have bought and used ad-aware as well. SpySweeper beat all of the others, and I tested them fairly. Ad-aware, PestPatrol, Spyware Search & Destroy, nothing worked better than SpySweeper.

You have to keep it updated - not just signatures, but new versions from time to time. If she is running a year-old version, it won't catch the latest stuff, even with the latest sigs.

You also have to look into the shields and turn ALL of them on, maybe you could ditch the 'Common Ad Sites Shield' but the rest are important.

You have to schedule FULL scans weekly or so, don't just let it scan one folder or whatever - the whole disk(s).

And no - it won't catch everything, but the resident portion is the best I have found.

If you run SpySweeper resident and use something else along with it as a secondary scanner (not resident), you will get nearly all of the bad guys.
