It won't conflict with your current E install, and gentoo even has CVS ebuilds for it and it's deps. Follow the instructions here to unmask them. To test it, I ran:
echo "exec enlightenment-0.17" > ~/.xinitrc; startx;
which will start it up and make it so whenever you use startx it will do the same, but doesn't interfere with your DM configuration/setup/blah. Good fun to play with :) |
