I sometimes try beta software so I know a bit of what to expect (plus, even beta versions often work better than the last released) and I'm currently filling a "Potential Testers Requests" survey on MS Beta site. Never mind that, but these are actual questions in that survey:

How long have you been using computers?
[ ] I don't use computers regularly
[ ] Less than 6 months
[ ] 6 months to a year
[ ] For over a year

How often do you use computers?
[ ] Daily
[ ] Weekly
[ ] Monthly
[ ] Yearly

Gee, I don't know how to answer. I don't see any options "For over a decade" and "Hourly"...

Nevertheless, I'd say this explains just why almost all MS products' interfaces are designed... well... the way they are.
