I was in the same boat -- they claimed that we needed caculus for freshman physics (which I HAD in High School - but I didn't do well enough to test out, either) - and we didn't learn to integrate until second semester calc as it was! We barely used calculus in physics class (and it was really just to figure out f=ma in it's various permutations).

Not placing out of several courses that I should have really reinforced already terrible study habits that took me years to overcome. I also had my phys lab from 3-5pm on *fridays* (which was an incredibly stupid move, since all my friends arranged their schedules to be done with classes by noon on fridays at the latest).

I didn't even think of taking band (orchestra, in my case) in college. That would have been relaxing for me, had I done so.
