Dual booting - need help accessing stuff on both by JohnLynch2006-11-19 12:55:59
  I use a spare vfat32 partition for that by moddermonster 2005-02-28 05:12:22
There seem to be read-only ext2 drivers for Windoze, maybe even ext3. There is a read-only ntfs file system in the linux kernel. So read-only cross access shouldn't pose any problems, just store your stuff on one system and mount it from the other one.

The only writable common denominator seems to be vfat, so I went for that, but not using it as system partition of either OS. The bad thing is, no access control, no symlinks, no files >4GB etc.
