screen resolution - Fedora Core 3 help needed by acl68 2005-02-28 03:05:55
Hello folks,

I am still installing and optimising my new box and would appreciate help and hints to the following question:

I had some broken packages and libraries and general mess on the system so I reinstalled Fedora Core 3 without formatting my disks, because I didn'w want to loose more data than necessary. That went okay with the minor drawback that it didn't ask me for monitor model and desired screen resolution, when I reinstalled from the CDs.
So it is now running with 800x600 and 60Hz. So I see you really, really big today folks!

I then edited my xorg.xml and added some more modes like e.g. "1280x720" and increased the vertical Hz to 85 wich works, as I know from my W2k system.
But the only effect is that Fedora offers me now ridiculous resolutions like "320x175" and still stays with 60 Hz.

Any clue what I can do here?

Thanks for all help and hints in advance!

Anja
