1. Not elegant, but it'is easy: Install and configure wikimedia on both systems. create a partition, which is accessible from both systems XP and *nix, which you set as document strorage path. Create on both systems the database and keep it in sync by exporting the database and import it vice versa.
2. Install it on *nix. Get a VM-Ware workstation and launch the *nix system from XP via VM. (Best solution)
Without a VM you can't run two OS synchroneously on the same computer.
But: If you don't have to install *nix you don't need to...
