KS? I'm going to question your comments here, not because I don't think you've thought this out, but because it doesn't match with how you normally respond.
Just the point about no gain to society, can you clarify who you are referring to? Are you referring to pedophiles that "have something wrong with them" (like the brain tumor) and are unable to check their behavior, and need to be kept away from children for their safety, or are you talking about "pedophiles" in the sense of people that find children attractive, but are able to check their urges (because it's harmful to the children, because of fear of prison etc.)?
I'm a bit confused in this whole discussion, really. Not just your point. I figure pedophile can be interpreted in the "someone doing harmful behavior" sense, but I wouldn't consider "hetrosexual" to instantly imply that the individual is sexually active.
Also, the original question about whether pedophilia is natural or a disorder seems to be confused with the concept of whether it's acceptable or not. (of which KS's post did a great job of responding to that exact question)
