The Stake President and the Seventh-Day Adventists minister had been meeting about weekly to discuss gospel principles and how their doctrines were similar or different. One Saturday, Ben and his companion - Elder Crawley - a bold former Franklin Planner salesman who speaks like a Southern Baptist preacher, went in to visit their congregation and his sermon was on how Christianity has affected their lives.
After a brief few minutes, he invited everyone to share their experience, or bare their testimonies. And as people would do this, they'd hear quiet but audible "Amen's". Well, missionaries can NEVER pass up an opportunity to bare their testimony - and Crawley raised his hand and the minster recognized him and referenced his visits with the Stake President. Crawley bore his testimony of Jesus Christ and the people "Amened" it like crazy.
Ben and his companion shared the experience with the Stake President and in the next Sabbath meeting, Crawley gave a good loud but reverant AMEN and he could see the people in the back of the room suddenly sat up and looked around after that all the meetings whenever it was appropriate, they would say a good and firm AMEN.
In Stake Conference, a couple weeks later, the Stake President rebuked the bretheren in Priesthood/Leadership meeting for not acknowledging testimonies and prayers with amens as we ought to.
Thought you'd get a kick out of that.
