Closed windows have been around since 7, if not 6. It's only the icon that's new. But, yeah, it seems to be an improvement. Which is good, because I was afeared of version 8 heading further into feeping creaturism land. (It's also pretty stable for a beta -- it's not crashed yet, and I've only found one (voice-related) bug. Compare and contrast with my experiences with Firefox...)
