However, must those that live in a society always try to abide by its rules, even if they think they are wrong? Because social change always starts by people rebelling against society's rules; and often this rebellion is seen as good by the society that exists afterwards, but is seen as a bad thing by the society that exists before and up to the rebellion.
So yes, I know that pedophilia is seen as very wrong by todays society, including myself; and we have every right to forbid it. But if what is going on is ONLY wrong in society's eyes, and not in the eyes of the participants, I think that those people might be doing better by not leaving the society (often too difficult), but instead either keeping a secret, or being open. Of course, if they choose to be open, they know they will have to face society's judgement, and can only hope that they can convince them that their case, at least, is right. |
