it looks like the example was not clear. What I meant was that the father was going to jail, because one way or another the case was reported to the authorities. The child wanted to keep their father, probably because they still loved the father. Of course they didn't want the abuse to continue, but they didn't want to be without a father either. I don't know if the acts were consenting or not, but I guess in this case the child wanted the father more, even if it meant putting up with the abuse.
