Regardless of the age of the child, and regardless of the act, the father is the one who is expected to know better. If the father ignores his responsibilities on a matter such as this, is it really better for that child to have that father in their home where the child has less protection than anywhere else?
I don't know that I'm wise enough to mete out appropriate punishment, but at the very least, he waives his parental rights and authority, and he should be disallowed from maintaining or entering into any situation in which he would otherwise fulfill those roles.
He violated his obligation in one of the worst possible ways. |
