Is pedophilia a disorder or is it a natural thing, like i.e. human sexuality ?

Some will be quick to label it a disorder, but so was homosexuality until 1973, before it was removed from the books by APA.
Homosexuality becomes more and more acceptable these days as it happens between 2 consenting adults (usually) and no one is hurt.

Pedophilia, however is claimed to hurt children. Perhaps it's due to that children don't really know what it all means, and are not ready to decide what's good for them and what's not. (Although, there must be some cases where it doesn't hurt children, and in some cases where being reported and going through the court system hurts the child more than the act itself.)

With homosexuality you are gay or you're not. If you're gay you can't change it as it's not a choice. Is this the same with pedophilia ? If it is a natural thing, like being left-handed or being gay, how can it be punishable by law ? Is it just an unfortunate sexuality that happened to be tabooed by society ?

I realize that this may be a hot subject, and if you're riled up, I'm asking you to take a deep breath, and comment thoughtfully rather than just vent your feelings.
