My father had a good one (RCAF vs USAF). by run.dll 2005-02-23 15:59:31
It was long ago I heard this and I was little, but I think I've got the basic story straight. My father was career RCAF. Back in the 50's there was an AA (anti-aircraft) gunnery competition with a unit from the USAF in which a ground crew would shoot live rounds at a target towed by a plane. I guess they looked at percentage hits to decide the winner. The problem arose that the Canadian AA radar had a nasty habit of detecting the wire cable that the Americans were using to tow the targets. As a result, the aiming point would creep up the cable from the target towards the towing aircraft. The Americans were not amused. Dad was laughing when he told the story, so I suspect the Canadians were.
