Regarding my (and other's) complaining about users by rogue19712005-02-14 18:28:42
  Heh... by MrTrick 2005-02-14 18:38:02
I don't get paid for doing tech support, I just get the 'family and friends' callouts.

Quite a few years ago, one of my more clueless friends couldn't get her iMac (G3) to print anything. Now I'm a self-confessed mac hater, but I and a more mac-savvy friend tried for more than an hour to get it working. It was plugged in, but it didn't appear in the Chooser, or pass any of the other mac tests.

In desparation, I looked closely at the cable to see if there was anything wrong with it, and realised... that she had managed to jam the usb plug into the RJ45 socket at 45 degrees...

Aaaaaaaaarrgh...
(It wasn't picked up on before because it was hard to see the cable panel, and as the plug was visibly 'attached' to the computer, we just assumed.)
