XP Display issues by thread_killer 2005-02-14 12:44:26
Grrrr...I hate the fact that I need to use this stupid XP partition for work.

Grrrr again

Anyway, here's the issue. When ever I have a window open that has scroll bars, I can barely see them. I mean barley., they are practically tranlucent, and I can't figure out why. I don't have this problem at all when I'm booted into the *nix partition on this particular box, nor do I have it when I'm using my XP laptop, which (except for display size) has identical display settings.

Those settings are:

Theme: Modified theme, because I'm using a firefox wallpaper. It's actually the 'default' theme but for some reason it says modified if I'm not using a Microsoft provided wallpaper. Even when I do though, the problem is still there
Desktop is a firefox wallpaper, but see above.
Appearance: Windows and Buttons are windows xp style, Color is default blue and font size is normal.
Settings: 1280 X 1024 and 32 bit color.

I've played with some of the other themes/colors but they actually seem to make things worse instead of better. I've got a radeon 9800 pro vid card and a ViewSonic VX910 monitor. As I said, everything seems to work perfectly well in *nix.

Anyone have any ideas?

Normally I wouldn't care, but I'm crunching a lot of spread sheets and Gantt charts which requires dragging the scroll bar around a lot, and I can't find the dang thing.
