Fedora Help Please !! by alewsey2005-02-14 10:04:34
how to do it by celticess 2005-02-14 12:41:06
use your fav editor and:

nano(or other editor) .xinitrc

Add what you want to start up with X in there. At the bottom of the file you must have

exec [windowmanager]

for example:

gkrellm2 & sleep 1
gaim & sleep 1
opera &
exec fluxbox

---
The sleep command helps them load in specific order... generating a short pause before loadup. If you want a program to start things on the window manager refresh/restart while x is running it depends on the window manager. Fluxbox and PekWM have a type of startup file seperate from the .xinitrc file that has the same format. I use that to restart some dock apps when refreshing/restarting the window managers.(actually I have it kill then restart the process using that file)
