| I literally couldn't. I had a hard time raising my arms at all for quite some time. He was very apolgetic though, and I made him suffer for it for some time to come, though not through violence, just gave him a lot of crap. Here's what happened: The platoon was doing weapons maintenance in the platoon room and all the NCO's had to leave to go to a professional development class. As the arms room was locked, they left them all for the lower enlisted to take care of. When the arms room opened, myself and another guy grabbed all the NCO's weapons and went downstairs to turn them in. My friend Kris had promised to turn mine in for me when he was done cleaning his. So I'm standing in line with six M-16s at sling arms when my boss (whom I did not get along with) walked up and asked me the serial number for my weapon. I rattled it off and he said, "Oh, you mean this one right here. I found this unsecured in the platoon room." "But..But...Specialist $Friend is supposed to be turning it in for me." "I don't give a f4! You're signed for it, not him, it's your responsibility. Get down and start pushing." So I got all the weapons adjusted on the back of my hands (they're not allowed to touch the ground) and did push-ups until I literally had spit running out of my mouth. He then ordered me to recover and I thought "Whew...it's all over". Nope "Give those weapons to $Soldier, he'll take care of them, you come with me." He then procedeed to take me behind the building where no one could see us. I did, in fact, exercise until I vomited, then did some more. I never left a weapon with someone again unless they signed a hand-reciept. In my eight years, there are only a small handful of times I ever got smoked like that for doing something stupid, and I remember every one of those lessons vividly. That one was the worst though as far as pure physical training goes. |
