threads and arguments that have been posted here about restricting access to firearms to peace officers. I may be reading too much into DR's response but I dont think so.

He is implying that we should not entrust our safety into those kinda people (police). By doing so he is using this example of irresponsibility to strengthen his own often repeated belief that he (and individual citizens) are the best and sole persons responsible for personal safety and protection.

By this standard every adult person and every home should have firearms at the ready to fend off attackers. Something that quite frankly scares the heck out of me.
