A kind of silly little question... by Khaar 2005-02-14 07:30:12
For some application I have to split some enormous images into smaller tiles, but there's a silly little problem in defining those tiles. For some reason even I don't know I'd like to implement overlaying (at least supported if never used). But I'm not sure how to define width and height of individual tiles then. Is it the same as the actual width and height of the tiles or should the overlaying margin width be subtracted?

Example:
Tile images are 200px×200px and both horizontal and vertical overlay margin is 20px. So each tile (except the last one in its row and/or column) shows only 180px×180px, the remaining 20 pixels are hidden under the next tile. So, how would you define the size of these tiles?
a) 180×180 (+20×20)
b) 200×200 (-20×20)

It's the same thing either way, but I have to choose one of these two numbers as the base and implement the same type of calculations throughout the application.

do you need the data in the margins of the tiles? (n/t) by unjust2005-02-14 08:02:48
