(everyone else does, usually) but what are you attempting to accomplish?  do you desire random image maps [like plasma fractals] to be used in constructing heightfields for use in 3D plots?  Are you attempting to construct random (or pseudo-random) area plots for map construction?
"...then you could click a train to create regions for the imagemap..."
      ...has me wayyyy confused!

     But I would love to help.  What do you want to do?  And further - what format are you working in?  JPG?  BMP?  TIF?  It kinda makes a difference...
