and you can also contact the phone company and see if they are willing to call a neighbour to check on them. If the line is busy they can also break in on the phone line if they think it's an emergency. I've had them break in on a phone call before. At the time I was worried on my mother in law as she'd been on the phone 3 hrs and I couldn't get through. Seems she was fine she just was too busy gossiping on the phone and it was the same person the whole call too..
