The woman stayed at her sisters. Not that her child, mom, or husband did. Makes you wonder if they are well aware she's not quite right. Also obviously they sensed it was ok because they stayed and they didn't seek medical help too. Based on those facts alone I think the judge erred in his award to them. Because it casts reasonable doubt as to her choice of action.(ie what her true motivation was) And yes they may go for the torch bearing mob but the woman also isn't happy she didn't get $$ she'd hoped to. That was evidenced by her comments immediately following the case. I see them as in the future trying to strong arm others they think they may get money from.
