feature updates?

Then cost comparision of buying windows vs *nix's and maintaining it if two people skilled in their particular OS maintained it? ie if a windows guy maintained his windows and paid for it and a unix person maintained their own unix. Add on costs of bug hacking and how many windows were volunteer/free compared to how many linux were and hours put in to improve the product.
