Except the really important stuff of course. Some things we are legally required to keep. Other things make a useful reference. But our filing system is a joke. Send a letter? The original sits on the file server. The file copy is scanned then hidden in a box file. The scanned copy is supposedly available for full text searching and easy retrieval. It isn't. It isn't possible, and if it was, it wouldn't be simple. We can't search the originals either - except manually, and it's easier to flip through the paper file. It might take an hour or two to discover that we don't have a particular drawing or report. And my boss and coworkers are open to new ideas - they just really, really hate change.
