I've got a question about Windows vs. Linux, by pecosdave2006-11-19 12:55:59
  Um. by Didactylos 2005-02-11 09:47:02
Microsoft don't do that anymore. Their problem is the discovery/patch/exploit cycle is getting tighter. Much tighter. This makes auto updates even more important. It is also why I dislike the monthly patch schedule.

Take a trivial overrun hole - half an hour to find and validate the bug, a few minutes to write the fix, an hour or two for a formal peer review and audit. A few more hours for the regression tests to run. Why wait a month?
