Dessert had some objection to being caught, so my snake ends up catching it by the foot. Now, perhaps a more intelligent snake would let go and try for a more effective hold, but oh no, not mine. She twists and flops until she finally gets part of her body around the mouse for the fatal squeeze. *sigh*
She's never been a very good huntress, anyway. I had a friend with a ball python. She'd drop the mouse into one side of the tank, with the python at the other side. Suddenly you'd hear a snap, and the snake would be on the mouse's side of the tank, clamped on and wrapped around the mouse three times in a perfect spiral. Mine? Once the mouse is dead, it takes her a few minutes to figure out how to untie herself from the knot she got herself into before she can eat. |
