whoah... Security Updates up the wazoo...	by niwikki	2005-02-08 18:40:10
I just got the update notification from MS that there are 6 new security updates for Windows XP. Six. It's funny, they're all essentially the same in their details, except some say they're fixing something that lets hackers remotely do something to my system, while others just were things that let hackers do stuff to my system (with no mention of remotely). Interesting. Does that mean these fixes will stop people from hacking into my machine locally? Somehow I doubt it (if anyone manages to be near my computer), though that's definitely what's implied by the inconsistent use of "remotely"... ;) Plus a security update for Windows Messenger and another for IE. AND they're updating the Malicious Software Removal Tool Can't they just roll these things out gradually rather than sending out 9 updates all at once?
