to bring it in. I do bring in alcohol, for personal consumption. Mostly wine, some beer, bottles of Bailey's etc. While technically illegal, it is standard as long as it is not being sold. OTOH, the air cargo with 120 bottles of booze was confiscated and charges laid. One aspect of the ban is that binge drinking is common. Most interactions with the police follow three main themes: Alcohol involved violence Theft - used to obtain cigarettes / booze / drugs Conflicts resulting from gambling Add sex to season the unhealthy mix and you can see why the life expectancy in Nunavut is 10 years below the national average. Smoking rate for 14 year olds is 60%. Average age for first child birth is 15. The stats here are just plain ugly.
