i.e. it's appealing because it's both funny and has a religious message, which makes it funny given the origional song. the ironic quirk is that born again christians tend to take a very limited view of the theology implied in the bible, and despite their veneration of it and of christ, they ignore many of the teachings there of. it's the whole chirsitian bumperstickers road rage joke a few days back.
