...but I've always found that when it -should- happen for a reason, then you're actually doing that person a favour. They'll rise to the level of their incompetence somewhere else or improve in ways that they can't with their current job. OTOH, the person I had to fire (as opposed to having other people do it on my recommendation) was doing absolutely NO work and was spending 8 hours a day surfing porn. It wasn't a hard choice. KS
