for things thrown at enemies:
pestilent and infectious corpses, or live infectious persons, feces, powdered lye, mustard gas, vx gas, numerous pathogens, and accellerants designed to create firestorms rather than just burn locally.
for other things:
fire oxen. cytotoxic and neurotoxic poisons on weapons. poisoning water supplies.
napalm really isn't that bad as far as horrible ways to die go. it's not nice, but it's reasonably quick and painless in comparison to diseases or injuries that take days or weeks to kill.
that said, i'll again say that war is NOT a good thing, nor is killing people in general.
