My Grandfather worked 39 years for the same company. He fell off a ladder 20 feet trying to unfreeze a bay door, after having the bay door unstick and run over his hand. He returned to work after breaking three fingers and severly injuring his back, the same day. In his 39 years he took 3 sick days, because the doctor would not release him from hospital.

He rolled a semi truck and was trapped for 6 hours in the cab upside down while they dismantled the steering column. 1 year before he would be eligible for his 40 year pension they closed the factory and told him to politely where he could go.

This is reality. How hard you work, no matter how loyal you are, Companies don't care. Most people don't want the risk of their own business. The assumption that everyone who doesn't like their job should just go out and start their own business doesn't fly either. Somewhere somebody has to work for somebody else...The only commodity on this planet is labour.
