The Twixters: Refusing to Grow Up by Illiad2006-11-19 12:55:59
Society Can Kiss My by Monza 2005-01-27 14:28:17
I haven't read the article, but I think there is a number of things that are overlooked. Today's workforce is radically different then that of 30 years ago. I see in the office settings people getting ahead, not because of level of work, ability or leadership, but because of Office Politics. Nobody wants to make a decision that is unpopular, it's too easy to lose one's job.

Companies are no longer loyal to employees, they're just as likely to downsize you tomorrow and send your job to india as they are to give you praise. It's very hard to expect anybody to be loyal and work hard for a company that has less respect for you then office supplies.

My final point is we as a society focus on work far too much. It's a north american thing. How many people neglect family/friends for work. The generation see's all this. It's nice to retire when you're 50, not so nice to drop dead at 55 because of all the stress from work.

I'm not defending the actions of those people, but It's time for a radical change in how North Americans View Work and work. This is just the pendulumn swinging too far the other way, but it's needed if any change is going to happen
