BUT does that give him the right to try to kill his family - not just the step-dad, but his mom, siblings, the family dog?
He had the right to be upset, but there are other methods. Even for a 15 yr old. You can talk to teachers, etc. There is never a reason to poison people.
Even if his step-dad isn't the sweetest guy around, I doubt he was beating the kid. There weren't any signs of physical abuse.
Mental abuse is still pretty potent, but not really a reason to commit murder.
Oh, but he was only trying to make them sick, not kill them.
