I vacillate on the urban/rural thing by voxwoman 2005-01-27 12:11:43
all the time. ON the one hand, I like land, and I like being away from things (like sirens and lunatics and wandering bands of theives). On the other hand, I like the choices and variety in food stores, films, proximity to friends, and performing arts that living in an urban area provides.

If I had to travel 20 minutes by car to pick up milk, things would be quite different, and somewhat lonely, I think. And unless I installed a swimming pool, it would be hard to get my friends out to visit me (the last time I lived in an "inconvenient" location, having a pool and an acre of land for camping out made our house the social nexus for the summer).
