I know that you and j. have been wanting this for a while, and I think it's great you have a chance to do it now.

But it's not for everyone, at least not at certain times. I imagine when I'm done with work (other than writing) and I retire I'll move somewhere rural and decidedly un-urban, but right now the jobs, contacts and opportunities to make money and learn are all in the city for us.

I don't understand why you'd be getting strangeness from others. It's not like they're going with you to your acreage.
