Anybody feel like explaining UK politics? by oot 2005-01-27 10:39:45
My social sciences class has been told we're expected to follow UK politics while we're here. That means we probably have to find answers to questions that usually don't concern American college students, such as "how does a parliament work anyway?" and "who the heck was Margaret Thatcher, and why was she Prime Minister for so long?"... I've figured out parts of it with some help from McNutcase, AndyA, Krikkert, and some guys from Wales who to the best of my knowledge aren't UFies, but I'd be interested if anybody could point me at something (book, website, whatever) that's an overview of how the whole thing works (like maybe what they use to teach it to school children), and/or a summary of who are/were major political figures recently and what they did/do.

Thank you in advance to anybody who replies (I might not be able to check replies again until tomorrow.)
